Three sets of clues on one board

A Star Battle game uses rows, columns and the outlined regions together. Every star counts toward all three. Stars cannot touch horizontally, vertically or diagonally. An empty mark helps you keep track of cells you have ruled out.

One star or two

Start with the one-star board, or choose the separate two-star mode. The number below the field tells you the quota for every row, column and region. Two-star boards give you more placements to plan. Check the quota and total below the field; the board size alone is not a measure of solving time.

Mark possibilities as you solve

Tap a cell to cycle through a star, an empty mark and a blank cell. On a keyboard, use the arrows, Enter, X and Delete. The information button above the field keeps the full controls nearby. Empty marks are optional; the star positions decide the result.

Follow the regions as well as the grid

Star Battle puzzles combine the regular grid with irregular regions. Check which placements would leave too little room for the stars still needed in a neighbouring row or region. Correct a trial placement whenever it conflicts with another star or quota.
